These are the kitchen decisions I’d repeat every time-not because they’re flashy, but because they quietly make life easier & more beautiful. • Prioritizing natural light ☀️ • Choosing drawers over doors. Nothing gets shoved into the front-you see the entire space every time and place things back accordingly. • Placing dishes, flatware & other often used items right next to the dishwasher so unloading takes seconds. • A horizontal spice drawer by the stove so every label is visible at a glance. We had a vertical pull out spice cabinet at our last house and we had to crouch down every time. Never again! • A divided cutting board cabinet under the prep zone: no digging, no stacking • Four feet of clearance between the island. Has never felt too small, has never felt too big. • A microwave drawer that’s accessible but not at eye level. Kids love this too! • A tall, floor-to-ceiling cabinet instead of multiple uppers: LOVE this designer full floor to ceiling look. • A sink designed for real use: integrated shelf & drying rack, but also with the drain offset to one side so you can spray everything straight down without fighting the drain. • And yes, the grocery-unloading window. Not doable in every home, but if you can… it is SO incredibly helpful. Especially with those big Costco runs! None of these decisions were accidental. They came from living in a kitchen that almost worked-and learning what I didn’t want to repeat. If you’re renovating, saving for later, or just mentally designing your future kitchen, save this. These are the things I’d do again without hesitation."

Catherine Wilman on Instagram: "Our entrance hall in the Berkshire project is a beautiful double-height space filled with natural light from the fixed skylight above. We chose a soft, light colour palette throughout to enhance the sense of openness. Behind the staircase, we introduced warm panelling, adding depth and subtle richness to the scheme. The handrail is kept neutral, bringing a gentle country character to the space, which is less formal and not typical on this style of staircase but it makes more inviting and homely. A central table with large flower arrangement anchors the hall and sets the tone as you move through the house. Our client wanted the space to feel a mix of modern and classic, guiding the eye naturally towards the garden beyond. You’ll notice the coffered ceiling beginning here and continuing through towards the dining and living areas, creating cohesion across the ground floor. Light oak flooring runs throughout, complementing the overall scheme. The two arches lead respectively to the cloakroom and the powder room, completing this welcoming entrance.
