Want to live like a sports star? The spectacular 9,395-square-foot megamansion in Paradise Valley, AZ, built for Major League Baseball legend Charles “Chili” Davis is now being offered for $8.5 million.

The home was originally listed in July for $9.5 million, so the current price represents a $1 million reduction.

The five-bedroom, six-bathroom house was custom-built in 2000 for the three-time All-Star. It has since changed hands a couple of times. The current owner picked it up in 2013 for $4,950,000.

‘Masterpiece property’

Sitting on 3 private acres on a hilltop, the elegant home in the Montana De Bonitas Casas neighborhood offers awe-inspiring views of Mummy Mountain.

“The home was custom-built for baseball legend Chili Davis, who had an amazing vision brought to life by (custom home builder) Salcito Custom Homes,” says listing agent Frank Aazami, of Russ Lyon Sotheby’s International Realty.

“This masterpiece property offers some of the most amazing views of the valley that I have ever seen, and is accompanied by luxurious amenities and stunning architecture,” he adds.

Luxury does seem to be the name of the game here.

The main level boasts wood-beamed cathedral ceilings and walls of glass to take in the scenic views of Camelback Mountain and the Paradise Valley Mountain Golf Club.

Play a game in the billiard area, warm up by the sleek fireplace in the living room, or head out to the sprawling balcony to bask in the desert sun.

A chef’s kitchen features skylights, an enormous island with two sinks, and built-in appliances. There’s also a cozy breakfast nook to enjoy morning coffee while a nearby dining room offers a larger space for more formal meals.

Look closely, and you can still find evidence of the former MLB player’s near 20-year career as an outfielder and designated hitter. They include a stone wall where he kept his sports memorabilia and a terrace fire pit that’s in the shape of home plate.

On the lower level, you’ll find a home theater decked out with a 3D model skyline of South Beach.

There’s also a walk-in wine storage area and a media room with walls of glass and pocket doors that open to the outdoors. There, you’ll find an infinity pool and spa, built-in barbecue, and lounging area.

The property comes with a four-car garage and a detached guesthouse with a separate entrance, sitting area, kitchenette, bath, and private balcony.

Davis, now 62, debuted with the San Francisco Giants in 1981. He also played for the California Angels, Minnesota Twins, Kansas City Royals, and New York Yankees. After his playing days, Davis served as a hitting coach.
