Minnesota’s Most Expensive Home Offers Striking Lake Views and a $14.75M Price Tag

$14.7M Lakefront Property with 'Spectacular' Water Views Is Minnesota's Most Expensive Home

Realtor.com

The priciest listing in Minnesota is a waterfront home with 360-degree views of Lake Minnetonka.

The 9,016-square-foot mansion sits at the end of a peninsula in Woodland, MN, and is listed for $14.75 million.

“It’s a stunning piece of property with almost 1,700 feet of lakeshore, which is very unique,” says listing agent Jim Schwarz, with Lakes Sotheby’s International Realty. “The views in the home are absolutely spectacular from every room. You feel like you’re on a cruise ship at times. The water is very close to the home, which is not typical.”

Schwarz was present during the construction process, which finished in 2016.

“I met the owners in 2014 and ended up finding them this property,” he says. “They tore down an old home and built this beautiful home over a couple of years.”

The house has five bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms. There is a primary bedroom on the main floor, while a second primary suite and three more bedrooms are situated upstairs. The great room has two stories, with a double-barrel, vault ceiling and French doors.

The home has two kitchens—a primary cook space and a catering or prep kitchen.

“The mess is in one kitchen, and then you have a large entertainment kitchen,” Schwarz says, noting that the kitchen was a finalist in the 2017 worldwide Sub-Zero Wolf Kitchen Design Contest.

On the entertainment front, the home has a theater, golf simulator, wine room, and 2,500-square-foot garage.

The owners designed the house to have an indoor-outdoor feel, with plenty of glass doors on the main level and several upper-level balconies.

“The entire property is wrapped in either decking or porches … and if the weather gets a little windy on one side, you can just walk around to the other.”

At the end of the 2.8-acre property—and hidden among the trees—there is a lighthouse replica, modeled after one in Nova Scotia.

According to the homeowners, the property also has the largest residential flagpole in Minnesota.

“It was on the property when my clients bought it, and they thought it was a really unique and cool feature, so they kept it,” Schwarz explains. “For people who boat on Lake Minnetonka, it’s just an iconic property. If you’re out on your boat and you see the big American flag flying, you know it’s Cedar Point, because that flag has been flying there for many, many years.”

Schwarz says there has been a lot of interest in the listing.

“It checks a lot of boxes for people looking for something at this level that is special,” he says. “It’s very classic and very well done. Even though it’s a large, luxury home, it feels very comfortable.”
