A famously well-preserved Palm Springs, CA, property has grooved back onto the market. The retro residence from 1969 is available fully furnished for $1,969,000.
In March 2019, the distinctively decorated home came on the market for $1.7 million after being featured on the Netflix show “Stay Here.”
The current owners scored a big discount when they picked up the home in the Twin Palms neighborhood for $1,150,000 in August 2019. They’ve now decided to see if they can score a quick return on their investment.
The interiors feature vibrant colors, shag carpet, wood paneling, and glass walls that open to a sparkling pool out back. The original decor in the living room, dining room, and pink bedroom would be nearly impossible to reproduce.
The original owner was apparently an architect, who built the home for his wife, says listing agent Klint Watkins with Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices. The result is a point of view that’s all her, Watkins adds. The pink bedroom with her enormous closet (and his smaller one) is original and fabulous!
“It has mostly been kept in that original condition from the beginning,” Watkins says.
Most of the furnishings are from 1969, and custom built-ins include the coffee table in the living room, the bar in the Tom Jones–inspired den, and the dining room table.

Watkins notes that the current owners added their own touches. The home now features solar panels, an updated garage, and air conditioning. With these infrastructure updates, the living space is more comfortable than ever.
When the listing appeared on the market a year ago, the current owners snagged it as a second home. They’re selling it now, Watkins explains, “because the market here is so hot. Prices have skyrocketed.”
If they manage to get the asking price, they’ll reap a 71% return on their one-year investment.
Previous owners listed the home on Airbnb for around $1,000 a night. Though they rented out the home for a few movie shoots, the current owners basically enjoyed it for themselves.
For a new owner, the throwback property could be a fun second home, short-term rental, or setting for films and commercials.
As viewers of “Stay Here” may remember, this property has been refreshed on the outside, with ficus hedges bordering the property as well as updates to the pool. The chef’s kitchen was also renovated, bringing the turn-key, furnished residence fully into the 21st century.
Some of the vintage spaces are perfect as is, including the green-themed living room, matching formal dining room, and retro den with a bar, jukebox, and stone-surround fireplace.
The 3,300-square-foot home has a spacious master suite and two guest suites with full baths, all in vivid hues.
Sliding glass doors open to the patio and pool with a spa, as well as outdoor dining and lounging areas.
“It is rare to find. You don’t find these very often,” Watkins says. “From a seller’s point of view, it is a very specific buyer. There are literally thousands of people who have watched and saved this home. But the buyer is one in a million.”
