The Gorman House, which was made popular by Chip and Joanna Gaines on their very first season of “Fixer Upper,” is for sale again. This time for $1.2 million.

The seven-bedroom, seven-bath home in Waco, TX, has been on and off the market since 2021, with the price varying only slightly from $1.2 million to $1.1 million.

It’ll be interesting to see if the current owners, Baylor soccer coach Chuck Codd, and retired soccer pro Charmaine Hooper, let it go this time.

You see, after Chip and Joanna’s remarkable renovation about 10 years ago, the 3,284-square-foot Gorman House became a popular short-term rental, attracting many visitors to Waco, partly due to the Gaineses’ rising popularity and partly for Baylor University events and activities.

There are many homes renovated by Chip and Joanna that are available for short-term rental in Waco, but few are as large as the Gorman House, which can accommodate up to a dozen guests comfortably. Its average rate is about $433 a night on VRBO.

It’s easy to see why this Southern-style home is popular with guests. The lovely wraparound porch and balconies make for the perfect spot to have some sweet tea, chat with the neighbors, or look out at the pretty neighborhood.

Most of the hardwood flooring on the main floor was restored, and the space was opened up to become a great room with seating and dining areas. The spacious kitchen has stainless-steel appliances and a center island.

Each of the bedrooms has its own unique charm, including one with a fireplace and another featuring bunk beds.

But the standout bedroom is the third-floor attic conversion. It includes a sitting area, en suite bathroom, large closet, and large windows.

The Gorman House comes with a detached, two-bedroom, 1.5-bath carriage house. It was renovated in 2018 and can accommodate five guests.

Another nice feature is the garage, which currently serves as a storage room and laundry room. (It houses three sets of washers and dryers to accommodate the short-term guests.) The main house also has a laundry room for guests.

The house is just a 2-mile drive (or long stroll) to the Magnolia Market at the Silos. You’ll pass a number of famous homes featured on “Fixer Upper” along the way.

While prices in many markets across the U.S. are descending, the median price of a home in Waco is up 4.2% as of February 2023, according to Realtor.com® data.

It will be interesting to see how the Gorman House fares this time on the market. We’ll keep you posted.
